  1. Dear Xy-pic users,

  3. This is to announce yet another BUG FIX release of my DIAGRAM DRAWING
  4. PACKAGE, XY-pic: version 2.12.  It fixes the following user visible
  5. bugs in version 2.11:
  6.  
  7. * No conflict with `AMS-LaTeX' version 1.2 (SEE BELOW).
  8.  
  9. * No conflict with Karl Berry's `eplain' (SEE BELOW).
  10.  
  11. * Curves with explicit control are now right [Sjoerd Crans].
  12.  
  13. * Directional vectors no longer invalidate the Xy-state [Luc van Eycken].
  14.  
  15. * Tips on zero-sized turns no longer reversed [Jorge Almeida].
  16.  
  17. * Curves no longer overlap the surrounding text.
  18.  
  19. * Numerous documentation fixes in the Reference Manual.
  20.  
  21. * Short steep segments now placed correctly [thanks, Ross].
  22.  
  23. I am sorry to announce this very interim version which is necessary
  24. because of a change in an internal function of AMS-LaTeX [sic].  Thus
  25.  
  26.       ** PLEASE UPDATE TO VERSION 2.12 IF YOU USE AMS-LaTeX ***
  27.  
  28. The release of the `real' version 3 (no longer in beta-test) is
  29. imminent so you need not update otherwise unless any of the other bugs
  30. have bothered you (or you desperately need one of the additions
  31. described below).
  32.  
  33. There is ONE IMPORTANT CHANGE in the v3 extensions of this version:
  34. the \arrow command has been renamed to \ar in order to make diagrams
  35. more concise and avoid conflict with Karl Berry's `eplain', however,
  36. using the `v2' compatibility option will still define \arrow (as well
  37. as \stop and \merge that are also in conflict with existing names on
  38. some systems).

  42. One extension and one feature have been added with this release:
  43.  
  44. * \xyoption{cmtip} allows the use of arrow tips that resemble those
  45.   of D. Knuth's Computer Modern and Computer Concrete fonts.
  46.  
  47. * \xyoption{poly} supports drawing of regular polygons (by Ross Moore).
  48.  
  49. Version 3 will also have a special input mode for `knots and links'.
